To register your child for one of our sports programs, you first need to create an account with us. Your account must be active, and you will need to pay the annual membership fee of $10 before registering your child. Once your account is set up, select your child and navigate to the registration page. Find the sports program you wish to enroll in that matches your child's age range. Complete the necessary information, sign the consent forms, and make the payment for the program.

Yes, you can register your child after online registration has closed by visiting our office. Late registration is subject to availability, and we cannot guarantee that spots will be open. It is recommended to contact our office at (209) 472-9625 to check availability before coming in for a late registration.

If you wish to withdraw from a program for any reason, please contact our office at (209) 472-9625 or come into our office. Refunds are processed on a case-by-case basis and is up to the discretion of our Sports Director. The $10 annual fee and $3 registration fee that is included in the total price cannot be refunded.

Early registration takes place during the first two weeks of the registration period and offers the lowest fees. After the initial two weeks, the registration fee increases by $10, and then by another $10 during the final two weeks of registration and late registration.

The annual membership fee supports the operational costs of our programs, including staff salaries and office maintenance. As a non-profit organization, the YMCA of San Joaquin County relies on this fee to supplement grant funding, ensuring we can continue offering high-quality programs and services to our community.

We offer a variety of sports programs including Soccer, Basketball, Tennis, Flag Football, and Itty Bitty. Please check the individual sports pages for more information on league availabilities and age groups.

Exceptions can be made at the discretion of our sports staff. All registrations for age groups outside your child's current age range must be completed in office.

You can request a specific coach during the registration process. To request playing with another child, please provide the child’s name in the "other requests" section during registration. Our coaching staff will do their best to accommodate these requests; however, we cannot guarantee placement with a specific coach or friend.

Teams are formed in groups of 10. We take in to account coach and player requests first then teams are made on a first come first serves basis.

After registration closes, our sports staff will begin forming teams. Children will be taken off the waitlist in the order they were added and placed on teams based on availability. If there are enough children on the waitlist to form a new team of 10, we will do so. However, there is no guarantee of placement or acceptance into the program. If your child is taken off the waitlist, our staff will notify you, and you will have 24 hours to claim your spot and pay the sports program fee.

Practice schedules will be sent out via Playerspace the week before the season starts. Due to the number of teams and our limited staff, schedules will be distributed between Wednesday and Friday of that week. Game schedules will be sent out via Playerspace during the first week of the season.

If a team does not have a coach, one of our sports staff members will step in for the season or until a coach is found.

Changing teams is left to the discretion of our sports deparment and is handled in a case-by-case basis.

Yes, a jersey is required for all our sports. Jerseys will be provided for Tennis and Itty Bitty programs. For Soccer, Basketball, and Flag Football, you will need to order a jersey and have it ready before the first game of the season.

To apply to become a coach, you can apply online or come into our office to fill out the paperwork. All coaches are required to undergo fingerprinting and complete mandated reporter training.

Yes, coaches receive a 30% discount for each team they coach. For example, if a coach has one team and two children, they will receive a 30% discount on the registration of one child. If a coach has two teams and two children, they will receive a 30% discount on the registration of both children. Assistant coaches receive a 15% discount on their registration.

Coaches should have experience playing the sport they are coaching and a positive attitude. They should believe in positive reinforcement, be emotionally mature, and be capable of handling a group of 10 children.

Yes, our coaches receive training and ongoing support from our sports staff to ensure they are well-prepared and confident in their roles.

Coaches are the primary individual in charge of how practices are conducted. Assistant Coaches help and fill in when needed. Team Parents coordiante with other parents and may create snack schedules or plan team functions like pizza parties.

To help teach the kids how to play the game, provide a positive remodel for what good sportsmanship looks like, make sure the kids are having fun, and set the overall tone of the team.

All complaints against coaches are handled with the utmost care. We take all complaints seriously and will do our due diligence in investigating claims. Depending on the outcome of our investigations, corrective action or removal of the coach may occur.
